What Happened To Liam Gallagher & Oasis After Better Man

Directed by Michael Gracey, Better Man is a biopic about British singer Robbie Williams, who began his music career as a member of the acclaimed British boy band Take That. In the mid-1990s, Williams embarked on a solo career and eventually became one of the most celebrated British singers of all time. The movie Better Man notably depicts Williams as an anthropomorphic chimpanzee in human society, reflecting on Williams’ view of himself.

While Better Man struggled to find an audience and wasn’t financially successful, the movie was highly praised by critics and audiences for its depiction of the positives and negatives of Robbie Williams’ career. Better Man‘s was lauded for its soundtrack of Robbie Williams’ most iconic songs, directing, and visuals, which landed Better Man an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects. Better Man‘s cast includes Liam Gallagher and his band, Oasis, who were involved in a feud between Robbie Williams and Take That throughout the 1990s.

Oasis Split Up In 2009

Liam and Noel Gallagher Launched Separate Solo Careers

Liam and Noel Gallagher from Oasis

Although Oasis faced immense success, the group faced multiple internal conflicts, similar to Take That, as depicted in Better Man. Throughout their music career, the turbulent relationship between brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, led to issues, including the cancelation of a US tour in 1996, and the band getting involved in public fights. The brothers also made defamatory comments about each other, with Noel describing Liam in one interview as “the angriest man you’ll ever meet” (via Radiox). After a fight broke out backstage at the Rock En Seine Festival, Noel Gallagher announced his official departure from Oasis (via Biography).

Following Noel Gallagher’s departure, Liam Gallagher and the remaining members of Oasis continued to perform under the name Beady Eye, and they released two albums, Different Gear, Still Speeding (2011), and BE (2013), before disbanding in 2014. In 2010, Noel Gallagher formed the rock band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, serving as its lead vocalist and guitarist; they released four studio albums between 2011 and 2023. After Beady Eye’s disbandment, Liam Gallagher launched a solo career and released three solo albums and one collaborative album with John Squire. He has since won three MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Rock (via Manchester Evening News).

Liam and Noel Gallagher Announced An Oasis Reunion In 2024

Oasis Are Set To Perform A Reunion Tour Throughout 2025

In the years following Oasis’ split, Liam and Noel Gallagher continued to make negative statements about each other and denied any rumors of reconciliation. The brothers’ feud later moved to social media, with both writing insulting posts about each other’s careers and family lives, and making accusations regarding the cause of the band’s split (via Daily Mail). While there were hints of an Oasis reunion over the years, initially denied by both brothers, on August, 27, 2024, two days before the 30th anniversary of the release of Definitely Maybe, a reunion tour was announced for Oasis in 2025.

Oasis announced their tour would take place between July and August 2025 across the UK and Ireland; due to a high demand, concert dates were also added through to November 2025 for Canada, the US, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil (via Billboard). Liam Gallagher also responded positively to rumors that Noel Gallagher has written new music, claiming listeners will “be blown away“, which indicates that the brothers have mended their differences (via Nova). As seen in Better Man, Take That’s rivalry with Oasis played a significant part in Robbie Williams’ career, but both bands eventually experienced great success in the music industry.
