Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Sounds Great, But Must Make 1 Change Before I’m Fully Convinced

As much as I’m anticipating 2025’s Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, I think the upcoming movie would be much better if one element of it was changed. Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is the upcoming seventh installment in the Jurᴀssic Park franchise, which first originated in 1993. Although this movie is part of the larger series, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is going to follow an entirely new cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. This opens the door for even more exciting Jurᴀssic Park stories, and a departure from the franchise’s past mistakes.

So far, what we know about Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is somewhat limited. Aside from the cast, it has been announced that the movie will be set five years after the end of Jurᴀssic World Dominion and will focus on team of experts who are tasked with finding the last surviving dinosaurs to collect DNA from them that could save human lives. Furthermore, the movie has a current release date of July 2, 2025. All in all, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth seemingly has all the ingredients of an exciting new installment, yet there is one detail that I desperately wish could change.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Should Be Called “Jurᴀssic Park Rebirth”

Why The New Jurᴀssic Park Should Distinguish Itself

Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth

Although Jurᴀssic World Rebirth has had its тιтle for months now, I think that the movie should be called “Jurᴀssic Park Rebirth” instead. The main reason for this is that the franchise as a whole is Jurᴀssic Park, and Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is not technically an installment in the Jurᴀssic World films, even if it takes place after the fact. If anything, it seems like Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is a new chapter of the franchise, so it would make sense to hark back to the original тιтle or use a new one altogether rather than continue using what came before.

тιтles won’t exactly make or break a movie, but when it comes to Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, it could have an effect. For example, some audiences may ᴀssume that the new movie will include Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, when in reality, it is an entirely new cast. More importantly, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth needs to stand out from previous Jurᴀssic Park projects. With new characters and a new story, it is vital that Jurᴀssic World Rebirth feels fresh so that it not only feels different from its predecessors, but also so the film series can continue to be successful.

Why The Next Jurᴀssic Movie Is “World,” Not “Park”

Jurᴀssic Park Must Nail Down Its Path Forward

I believe that calling the movie “Jurᴀssic Park Rebirth” makes more sense, but I can see why the movie has stuck with the “world” тιтle. Unlike the earlier movies which were focused completely on the park itself, the Jurᴀssic World movies have seen dinosaurs go beyond the confines of the park, affecting the entire world. Technically, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth will be the same. The dinos will not just be inside a park, but will be tracked down in the wild. So, I suppose it is more world than park.

In this way, I fear that the new installment will push Jurᴀssic Park into a storytelling corner that it cannot get out of.

Even then, I worry about the future of the Jurᴀssic Park franchise. The progression from park to world makes sense, but I’m not really sure how the film series could raise the stakes beyond that. If the dinosaurs have already infiltrated the world, where could they go next? On top of that, the premise of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth implies that there are only a few dinosaurs left. In this way, I fear that the new installment will push Jurᴀssic Park into a storytelling corner that it cannot get out of.

Returning To “Jurᴀssic Park” Would Banish Memories Of Jurᴀssic World Dominion

Will Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Be Successful?

There is one final reason why I think Jurᴀssic World Rebirth should avoid its “world” тιтle. To be truthful, Jurᴀssic World Dominion was not the best installment in the franchise, and it would be helpful not to remind audiences of it. By returning to the original “park” тιтle, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth could create a blank slate for itself that is not tainted by anyone’s preexisting notions of the Jurᴀssic World movies. Jurᴀssic World Rebirth certainly does not want to suffer from the failures of its predecessors.

Of course, there is no telling just yet how well Jurᴀssic World Rebirth will do. Historically, the Jurᴀssic Park franchise has been incredibly successful at the box office, even if the movie itself was disliked by critics and audiences. Jurᴀssic World Dominion only earned a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, but went on to gross $1 billion. Hopefully, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth can not only earn the big bucks, but also satisfy Jurᴀssic Park fans.
