If You Loved Melissa Barrera’s Vampire Movie, Check Out Her Other Horror Movie From 2024 Now Streaming On Max

Melissa Barrera’s vampire movie, Abigail, garnered a pᴀssionate fanbase who will undoubtedly love her other 2024 horror movie, which can now be streamed on Max. Monster movies have had a resurgence in popularity over the past decade, with remakes of classic films like Nosferatu and Wolf Man coming out in the last year. However, other movies have taken the monster movie concept and created something new. One fantastic example of this is the high-concept horror movie Abigail, which came out early in 2024. Rather than focusing on Dracula, the film reimagines the 1936 horror film Dracula’s Daughter.

Dracula, who goes by the name Kristof Lazar, is a vampire crime lord in Abigail that turns his тιтular daughter into a bloodsucker centuries earlier. She has bloody fun throughout the horror film, killing most of her victims. Outside of Alisha Weir’s Abigail, the most significant character in the project is Melissa Barrera’s Joey, the only character who survives the movie (relatively) unscathed. The actor has expressed interest in Abigail 2, but no news about a sequel exists. Luckily, fans can get their horror movie fix by streaming the actor’s other 2024 film – which also reimagines the monster movie genre.

Your Monster Is Now Streaming On Max – What The Movie Is About

Your Monster is often called a horror take on Beauty and the Beast because it centers on the normal human woman who becomes romantically entangled with a monster she lives with. In the film, Laura is dumped by her boyfriend Jacob while recovering from cancer, and he cruelly decides to stage the musical they created together without her.

She returns home, where she learns a gruff but charming monster, aptly named Monster, is living in her closet. What follows is a hilarious and horrifying will-they-won’t-they love story that leans into campiness. Audiences even get treated to a tiny bit of musical theater, too. Your Monster is truly the best of many genres mixed together, enhanced by the fantastic chemistry of Melissa Barrera and Tommy Dewey.

Why Fans Of Abigail Would Enjoy Melissa Barrera’s Your Monster Movie

Alisha Weir as Abigail Bloody and Smiling Behind Bars in Abigail

Although they sound nothing alike in concept, Abigail and Your Monster have numerous similarities. Like Abigail, Melissa Barrera’s Your Monster provides a fresh take on the monster movie genre, though Monster isn’t based on a specific previous character. Barrera’s characters both have a sort of nihilistic atтιтude that’s relatable.

Both stories also have a sentimental quality, depicting a genuine connection between a human being and a monster.

The movies also share tones and styles, exaggerating genre elements for comedic effect. Both stories also have a sentimental quality, depicting a genuine connection between a human being and a monster – although Abigail and Joey are sisterly while Laura and Monster are romantic. This helps balance out the more ridiculous horror and comedic aspects of the film.
