Now You See Me 3: Release Date, Cast & Everything We Know

Though announced in 2016, Now You See Me 3 news was scarce until a few major updates reignited interest in the project. The original Now You See Me was a glossy thriller that involved a team of magicians called the Four Horsemen who pull off a series of daring heists using their skills in illusion, hypnosis, and sleight-of-hand. Now You See Me dazzled with its original concept, strong ensemble, and overall wit, even if critics weren’t all that loving. The sequel found similar success, and a franchise was seemingly blossoming.

Rumors have suggested all manner of developments for Now You See Me 3, from the star-studded cast returning to a totally new story serving as a soft reboot of the franchise. Despite high interest, little has been made about the potential sequel in the years since, and the trilogy-capping film seemed to be totally lost. However, new developments have arrived which prove that Now You See Me 3 is more than an illusion, and could actually find its way to cinemas in the near future.

Producer Alex Kurtzman Teases The Prequel

With the movie set to arrive in November 2025, more details are expected soon.

Several months after the movie wrapped filming in November 2024, the latest news finds producer Alex Kurtzman teasing Now You See Me 3. The prolific producer took time in a recent interview with Screen Rant to explain the important connection between the threequel’s legacy and its future. After explaining why he thinks 2025 is the right time for Now You See Me 3, Kurtzman explained that “it’s also about a new generation and an old generation coming together,” which is perhaps the overarching theme of the film. With the movie set to arrive in November 2025, more details are expected soon.

Read Kurtzman’s comments below:

Screen Rant: You’re producing Now You See Me 3 coming out later this year. Why was this the right time to bring a threequel to the franchise?

Kurtzman: I mean, it’s funny, Now You See Me is one of those stories that kind of works all the time. In many ways, it’s also about a new generation and an old generation coming together, which is really, really exciting. Magic is really fun. I feel like what we’re so proud of about Now You See Me is magic movies tended to not work, and then suddenly they worked really well when we made those films and people loved them. You always want to tell a story because you have a story to tell, and it took us some time to figure out what that story was, but we just wrapped recently and I think it’s going to be great.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the upcoming threequel is that the bulk of the original ensemble is returning to reprise their roles in Now You See Me 3. The main cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Dave Franco as the magician heroes. Isla Fisher didn’t return for Now You See Me 2 , leading to Lizzy Caplan joining the cast, but it is now confirmed that Fisher will be back as escape artist Henley Reeves.

Aside from the returning cast, a few new faces have already joined the ensemble and the sequel promises to be a star-studded affair. Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie, Ahsoka), Justice Smith (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), and Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers) have been cast but nothing is known about their roles at this juncture. What Trick Will The Four Horsemen Pull Next?

Now You See Me 3 story details are not yet known, but Now You See Me 2 did leave hints for where the franchise could go from there. The second movie ended with Ruffalo’s character being asked to take over the leadership of The Eye, a secret society of magicians, while offering the tease that the Horsemen would join the society as well. However, some rumors and theories about Now You See Me 3 suggest it could be a soft reboot, and The Eye gives a perfect opportunity for this.

According to Jesse Eisenberg, the script for Now You See Me 3 preserves the tone that made the first two so unique. Gushing about the one-of-a-kind nature of the franchise, Eisenberg said “the thing I love about it so much, having just read the script, it celebrates intelligence and it’s non-violent but exciting.” While this reveals nothing about the specifics of the story, it at least guarantees that Now You See Me 3 will be a return to form for the unusual Hollywood franchise.
