Nicolas Cage’s 83% RT Comedy Movie From 3 Years Ago Is Trending On Netflix & It Deserves Another Look After His Recent Horror Streak

Nicolas Cage’s 2022 meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent is now streaming and trending on Netflix. Cage leads the cast of The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent along with Pedro Pascal, Neil Patrick Harris, Paco León, Alessandra Mastronardi, Tiffany Haddish, and Ike Barinholtz. The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent received strong reviews, earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 87% in both critic and audience scores.

Cage recently starred in the 2024 horror film Longlegs as well as The Surfer and Arcadian. He has appeared in several notable independent films in recent years, including 2023’s Dream Scenario, 2023’s Renfield, and 2021’s Pig. Cage plays an exaggerated version of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent who gets caught between a superfan and a CIA Agent. The film is one of Cage’s more hilarious and unique efforts in recent years and is now streaming on Netflix.

The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent Is A Great Reminder Of How Fantastic Nicolas Cage Is In Comedies

Cage has starred in some classic comedies dating back to the 1980s

Nicolas Cage, wearing a luxurious red robe and a big pair of sunglᴀsses, sits waterside in The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent.

The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent is yet again another excellent Nic Cage performance in an offbeat comedy movie. Although in recent years Cage has primarily done horror movies and thrillers, he has historically been outstanding in comedy films and high-concept independent works. Even though audiences don’t get to see Cage in many straight-up comedies very often these days, The Unbearable Weight of Mᴀssive Talent is fantastic and really highlights how great Cage still is in the genre.

Several of Nic Cage’s best movies belong to the comedy genre. One of Cage’s earliest breakout roles was in the Coen Brothers’ slapstick crime comedy Raising Arizona (1987), which remains a classic film for both Cage and the directing duo. He was also great in the 2010 dark superhero comedy Kick-ᴀss and another dark crime comedy Red Rock West (1993). Perhaps Cage’s best comedy film of all is Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman’s Adaptation. (2002), in which Cage plays an exaggerated version of Kaufman as well as Kaufman’s fictional twin brother, Donald.

The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent Is Nicolas Cage’s Highest-Rated Comedy Movie In Over 20 Years

It’s just as good if not better than the 2002 Oscar winner Adaptation

When not including horror/comedy blends like Dream Scenario, The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent is Cage’s highest-rated comedy since the era of Matchstick Men and Adaptation. The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent ranks just as high if not higher than Cage’s early comedies, such as Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, and Vampire’s Kiss. There’s no question that Cage has one of the widest ranges of any leading actor in Hollywood, which The Unbearable Weight Of Mᴀssive Talent still proves to this day with its January 2025 Netflix release.
