The DCU Gets The Perfect Flash Reboot With Popular Casting Choices For Barry Allen & Reverse-Flash In Stunning Art

New artwork for a The Flash reboot brings two highly-favored casting choices for the Reverse-Flash and Barry Allen into James Gunn’s DC Universe. It has been almost two years since The Flash movie was released, which resulted in it becoming one of the biggest critically and commercially failing superhero films of all time. However, fans are still wanting to see the Scarlet Speedster reimagined in Gunn’s DCU, with DC Studios now rebooting the Justice League characters for the big and small screens.

While DC Studios isn’t actively developing a new The Flash movie as part of the DCU franchise, that has not stopped fans from proposing who should be playing the fastest man alive in Gunn’s continuity. Hip Beach recently shared new DCU art for a hypothetical The Flash film in the DCU, with Lucas Till and Antony Starr being imagined as The Flash and Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash, respectively. Check it out below.

Both of the actors are no strangers to the superhero genre, as Till played the Marvel hero Havok in the X-Men prequel movies. Meanwhile, Starr has been busy playing Homelander in The Boys TV show, which is set to return for a fifth and final season.

What The Lucas Till & Antony Starr As The Flash & Reverse-Flash Art Means For The DCU

When it comes to Till and Starr’s The Flash and Reverse-Flash fan-castings, both of them have been popular candidates for Barry and Eobard for several years, even when the DCEU movie timeline was still running. Though Barry was explored in the DCEU, the previous franchise never took the opportunity to even introduce the Reverse-Flash. However, the mistakes that the DCEU made with The Flash’s mythology give the DCU a chance to make up for it.

The new DCU art shows just how many are still interested in seeing Till and Starr’s castings as The Flash and Reverse-Flash come to fruition. While Gunn has commented on The Flash’s DCU development, stating that it is not at the front of their priorities right now, it seems inevitable that, at some point, there will be a new portrayal of the famous speedster and the various characters from his mythology. If Barry ends up being the primary speedster again, that would be the perfect time to not only explore Till’s fan-casting, but also Starr as Reverse-Flash.

Our Take On Lucas Till & Antony Starr As The Flash & Reverse-Flash DCU Art

Reverse-Flash and the Flash running in DC comics

Seeing the DCU artwork of Till and Starr as the iconic Flash characters makes the idea of them as Barry and Eobard even more fascinating, especially with the latter having proven that they know how to play sociopathic comic book villains. It wouldn’t be shocking if DC Studios is, for the time being, looking at utilizing The Flash after the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” and once they have gotten further into the franchise. For now, the world will have to wait and see if either of the two actors will ever get attached to The Flash in the DCU when the time comes around.
