Official Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Set PH๏τo Reveals First Look At Milly Alcock’s Girl Of Steel And Superman Logo As DC Movie Filming Begins

The first look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been unveiled by DC Universe star Milly Alcock. After the DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” kicked off in 2024, DC Studios is currently busy with various films and TV shows that will expand James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new superhero franchise. With Kara Zor-El set to return to the big screen in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie, Alcock has revealed a first look at her take on Superman’s famous Kryptonian cousin.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DC Studios movie to release, and filming is underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, England. Alcock celebrated the start of filming by revealing the first look at her as the Girl of Steel. Her pH๏τo was accompanied by the caption, “Introducing Kara,” with a rocket emoji. Check it out below.

On X (formerly Twitter), James Gunn confirmed the filming start for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, then praised Alcock and director Craig Gillespie, who previously directed I, Tonya and Lars and the Real Girl. “Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story,” Gunn wrote, “and Milly is every inch the unique Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely & Ana Nogueira.” Check out his post below.

The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie also stars Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, with DCEU star Jason Momoa boarding the DCU as DC Comics’ Lobo. David Krumholtz recently joined Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as Kara’s father, Zor-El, while Emily Beecham will be playing her mother.

While the franchise will feature the Kryptonian cousins at the same time, it has been unclear whether Alcock’s Supergirl costume in the DCU would have the same House of El symbol as Kal-El. This is especially true given how some of the recent DC Comics runs have seen Supergirl and Superman with different emblems of the S-shield. But thanks to the first Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow set pH๏τo, both of the Kryptonian icons will have the Kingdom Come version of the S-logo in the DCU.

Another key detail to pay attention to, especially for fans who have read the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, is that Alcock’s DCU set pH๏τo seemingly gives a first look at the bar that Kara is seen hanging out in the book. With the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie adapting Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic of the same name, it is not shocking that a key location from their story has been created for the DCU adaptation. Time will tell what other glimpses Alcock and DC Studios will reveal from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow over the coming weeks.

For this to be the first look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the pH๏τo is a perfect tease of the DCU film while leaving room for questions about the overall story and approach. With principal pH๏τography underway, it remains to be seen how soon it will be until Alcock’s full Supergirl costume is revealed, as well as a first look at her fellow Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow cast. Hopefully, the DCU will reveal more from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow sooner rather than later.
