I Know It’s Disappointing, But… I’m Not Really Expecting Revenge of the Sith Anniversary LEGO Sets This Year

As much as I’d love to believe otherwise, I’m not really expecting any big Star Wars sets from LEGO celebrating Revenge of the Sith’s 20th anniversary. Having been released in 2005, it’s been 20 years since Revenge of the Sith was in theaters, the culmination of George Lucas’ prequel trilogy with Anakin Skywalker falling to the dark side as Darth Vader. That said, I’m getting the sense that LEGO may be holding back until Episode III’s next big milestone.

It’s so secret that The LEGO Group has provided some of the best and most coveted Star Wars models. For fans young and old, there’s nothing like building an iconic ship or scene from one of the many movies or shows set in the galaxy far, far away. The final prequel movie is no exception, though there are a few reasons why I feel like 2025 might not have the big Revenge of the Sith LEGO sets some collectors might have been hoping for.

My Hopes Are Pretty Low For Big Revenge of the Sith LEGO Sets

There Will Be Some According To Rumors (Sort Of)

When considering the idea of 20th-anniversary Revenge of the Sith LEGO sets, iconic locations and potential brick-built scenes from the movie likely spring to mind: Anakin and Obi-Wan’s Mustafar duel, Palpatine’s attempted arrest by the Jedi Council, Anakin leading the 501st to the Jedi Temple, perhaps a new big-scale model of General Grievous, and more. However, rumors online have yet to support any of these proposed models, either traditional play sets or black base dioramas, a new line of display models that has been rising in popularity the last few years.

That being said, there are a few sets with connections to Revenge of the Sith that have already come out in 2025, such as January 1st’s ARC-170 Starfighter (75402). Having made its first appearance in the opening scenes of Episode III, the Clone Wars-era ship does technically count. The same goes for many of the Clone Wars-era ships, vehicles, and trooper battle packs rumored for 2025 with similar ties to Revenge of the Sith, though I’ve yet to see anything more direct than that.

Keeping that in mind, it seems as though my dream of having a Yoda vs Palpatine diorama in the Galactic Senate chambers is going to go unfulfilled in 2025. Based on the general rumors and reports that can be found online, I’m feeling as though this means LEGO is perhaps waiting until the larger 25th anniversary five years from now. It would track with past 20th anniversaries for the previous prequel films.

LEGO Didn’t Really Go Big For Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones’ 20ths Either

The Bigger Focus Looks To Be The 25th Anniversary

Unfortunately for The Phantom Menace, the film’s release in 1999 coincides with LEGO’s anniversary with the Star Wars franchise in general. As such, 2019 saw LEGO celebrating Star Wars on a much grander scale than the first prequel film alone. That said, one of LEGO’s 20th anniversary models did acknowledge the shared anniversary with The Phantom Menace with Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition (75258), as well as a couple polybag and microfighter sets released throughout the year.

In comparison, 2024 saw LEGO releasing a greater number of Phantom Menace-inspired sets, even in the midst of their bigger 25th anniversary celebration. This included the release of Phantom Menace models such as the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama (75380), Droideka (75381), a new iteration of Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator (75383), a gift with purchase Trade Federation Troop Carrier, as well as some polybags and in-store freebies.

Likewise, Attack of the Clones’ 20th anniversary didn’t receive much love either, with only Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter (75333) and the smaller Clone Trooper Command Station battle pack being released in 2022. As such, I’m expecting LEGO to celebrate to a much bigger degree in 2027 for Episode II’s 25th. Naturally, the same goes for Revenge of the Sith with this year likely being a little less compared to its 25th in 2030.

LEGO Just Celebrated Their Own 25th Anniversary With Star Wars

They Went Pretty Big in 2024

It’s also worth noting that LEGO went pretty big in 2024 for their 25th anniversary with multiple new Star Wars sets across the board, many of which came with special 25th anniversary bonus minifigures. As such, I wouldn’t be surprised if LEGO is looking to slow down a bit in 2025, especially with a lack of new content this year outside of Skeleton Crew wrapping up in a week and Andor season 2 in April. While I’d love to be wrong and get an epic Mustafar or Coruscant duel set, I really don’t think those are in the cards this year for Revenge of the Sith’s 20th. Here’s looking to 2030.
