Upcoming Barry Keoghan Movie Looks Like The Saltburn Replacement We’ve All Been Waiting For

Actor Barry Keoghan is set to star in an upcoming Irish thriller in 2025, and the movie looks like the ideal follow-up to 2023’s hit, Saltburn. A few years back, Keoghan was a fairly underrated star, taking on charismatic yet edgy roles in projects like The Killing of the Sacred Deer and The Banshees of Inisherin. However, Keoghan’s popularity got an undeniable boost in 2023, when he took on the role of Oliver Quick in the thriller comedy, Saltburn. Alongside Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, and Richard E. Grant, Keoghan absolutely proved his acting chops.

Saltburn certainly showcased Keoghan as a rising star, but the movie also brought its own allure. In Saltburn, Keoghan’s Oliver is a pathological liar who becomes obsessed with a rich young man named Felix at his university. After getting himself invited to Felix’s home for the summer, Oliver continually finds ways to exploit cracks in Felix’s friends and family. This leads to a shocking twist that sets Oliver on a rollercoaster towards pure evil. To some, Saltburn was an unforgettable experience which makes Keoghan’s next movie all the more exciting.

Barry Keoghan’s Bring Them Down Character Is Giving Off Major Oliver Quick From Saltburn Vibes

Dark Characters Are What Keoghan Does Best

Keoghan’s newest film is called Bring Them Down. In it, the actor plays Jack, a farmer who finds himself in the midst of a tense conflict with a neighboring farm when his sheep begin to be mysteriously murdered. Based on early reviews for the film, it seems that Keoghan is stepping back into the role of a sly, manipulative young man. Although Jack is a far cry from Oliver, the characters may share the same atтιтude towards revenge and getting what they want. Across from Christopher Abbott, Keoghan will surely shine in this new 2025 thriller.

Arguably, this type of film is what Keoghan is best at. It’s no wonder that the actor began to get more praise with every dark movie he appeared in. In The Killing of the Sacred Deer, Keoghan proved his ability to be eerily creepy. In Banshees of Inisherin, he added a wackier edge, but still met a tragic end. Saltburn merged these qualities into one jumbled mess of deceit and cruelty. Now, Bring Them Down can add another dimension to Keoghan’s on-screen darkness. The movie’s 93% Rotten Tomatoes score already showcases the film’s potential for success.

Bring Them Down Can Scratch Your Saltburn Itch, But Looks A Lot Darker

When To Watch Bring Them Down

Ultimately, those viewers who are missing the vivid shocks of Saltburn may find solace in Bring Them Down. Even without the shimmer and color of Emerald Fennell’s direction, this new thriller will let audiences see Keoghan in yet another conniving role. In fact, Bring Them Down may be even darker. According to critics, Bring Them Down is incredibly grim. As much as the movie is compelling, it may also leave viewers feeling heavy with the weight of generational trauma. For some audiences, this may be exactly what they’re looking for.

Bring Them Down will be available to watch on February 7, 2025. It is unclear when the film will hit streaming services, but hopefully, it will remain in theaters for a solid run. If its Rotten Tomatoes score is any indication, Bring Them Down could become the same kind of sleeper hit as Saltburn. Either way, those who love Keoghan and miss the thrill of Saltburn should most definitely keep Bring Them Down in mind.
