Jamie Foxx & Jessica Biel’s Top Gun-Like Action Movie With Sci-Fi Twist Leaves Netflix Very Soon

Netflix is losing a Top Gun-esque movie starring Jamie Foxx and Jessica Biel. While the streaming service is known for original movies and TV shows including Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, Wednesday, Carry-On, and Leave the World Behind, their library is also populated with тιтles that are licensed from other companies. As these licensing agreements expire or change quite often, every month there are usually quite a few тιтles either joining or leaving Netflix.

The Top Gun-inspired movie that is departing the platform soon is one of these licensed тιтles, and it is particularly star-studded. Jamie Foxx is a well known multihyphenate who is a stand-up comedian and musician along with being a decorated actor, having won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 musical biopic Ray. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor that same year for his work in Collateral. Jessica Biel is similarly well known and has earned an Emmy nomination for her performance in USA Network’s The Sinner.

Stealth Is Leaving Netflix

It Came Out The Year After Ray

Stealth is set to leave Netflix. The 2005 movie, which was directed by The Fast and the Furious‘ Rob Cohen, was set in the near future and followed a team of US Navy pilots (Foxx, Biel, and Yellowstone star Josh Lucas) training an AI jet that is malfunctioning and could start a world war. The movie was a box office bomb, grossing $79.3 million against a $135 million budget. It was also lambasted by critics and currently holds a dismal 13% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Stealth also starred Sam Shepard, Joe Morton, and Richard Roxburgh.

According to the latest update from What’s on Netflix, Stealth is set to leave Netflix on February 1, which is less than three weeks from the time of writing. The beginning of the month is a common time for licensing contracts to expire, and it is one of nearly two dozen тιтles that are being removed from the streamer on that day. The other most prominent тιтles on that slate include the 21 Jump Street movies, the first two Despicable Me movies, and 2021’s Dune.

What This Means For Stealth

It Is Still Available Elsewhere

Although Stealth was a flop at the time, its star-studded cast and prescient AI themes may make it more appealing to modern audiences. While it will no longer be numbered among the roster of Netflix movies, it will still be available on demand on a variety of platforms including Prime Video, Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu), Apple TV, and Google Play starting at $3.99. It is unclear if it will ever return to streaming, as it is a Sony Pictures Releasing тιтle, and they do not have their own proprietary platform, so it will need to be licensed again elsewhere.
