The Canadian thriller Trench 11 is a highly underrated horror movie and, thankfully, there are some easy ways to stream, rent, and buy the film. A member of the surprisingly filled military horror genre, Trench 11 takes place toward the end of World War I, and follows a group of British, Canadian, and American soldiers who are enlisted by Army Intelligence to explore the German’s secretive underground bunker, known only as “Trench 11”. Down below the battleground, the soldiers stumble upon a frightening and horrific weapon designed by a Nazi scientist.
Trench 11 combines the history and import of a World War 1 movie with the schlocky violence and scares of a low-budget B-movie for a pleasant mixture that should satisfy horror fans and history buffs alike. The film premiered on October 15, 2017, and currently has a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s a slow-burning movie that only begins to get going in the latter half of the film, but the payoff is gruesomely worth it. Combined with the impressive acting work by the relatively unknown cast, Trench 11 is well worth a watch for those who can view it.
