Bill Skarsgard Gets A Bright Purple Pinstripe Suit And Comics Accurate Joker Design In New Art After Saying He Wants To Join James Gunn’s DC Universe

Bill Skargård gets imagined as Joker in stunning DC Universe art after revealing that he is game to play the popular Batman foe in James Gunn’s franchise. With the DCU timeline set to reboot Batman for the big screen, DC Studios will also have the chance to reimagine several of his most famous villains. In the case of Joker, while plans haven’t been set for his introduction yet, actors are already sharing their interest in portraying him in Gunn’s DCU.

In a recent interview, Skarsgård revealed that he would be up to play Joker in the DCU, as he has been a popular fan-casting for the character for a long time. To show what he could look like as the Clown Prince of Crime, Hip Beach shared new DCU art of the Nosferatu star as Joker. Check it out below:

Earlier this month, Skargård said, “I have a really f***ing cool Joker in me,” as he is no stranger to playing iconic clowns in Hollywood, having already played Pennywise in the It movies. While The Brave and The Bold movie is still in development, it has yet to be confirmed if the Batman reboot movie will feature Joker in any capacity.

What Bill Skargård’s As The Joker Art Means For The DCU

The emergence of more art pieces depicting Skargård as Joker shows just how much fans are behind his casting for Gunn’s DCU, especially as he is actually open to taking on the role. Given his incredible performance as Pennywise in the It movies, it makes a lot of sense why so many want to see Skargård play Joker in a live-action DC franchise. Since the DCU has yet to get started with the Batman aspect in Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters,” this is a prime opportunity for DC Studios to make a popular casting choice come to life.

While there is currently no information about how old Joker is in the DCU and what his status is in the franchise, there is no reason why they couldn’t have a version of this character who is in his 30s. Even though The Brave and The Bold movie will establish that Batman already has a Bat-Family around him, which will include Damian Wayne, Joker could still be at a different age from whoever will play the Caped Crusader. The genius part about Joker in most adaptations is the fact that his origin is completely unknown, which leaves room for his age to be left ambiguous too.

The DCU artwork of Skargård’s Joker makes his fan-casting even more appealing, as he would be a perfect fit as the popular DC villain, especially in the rise of Gunn’s franchise. Whether or not Joker makes it into The Brave and The Bold remains to be seen, but even if he isn’t in the film, there are other DCU projects that he could be part of in the long run. Hopefully, whenever the DCU begins to look for actors to play Joker in the franchise, Skargård will at least get a chance to try out for the DC foe.
