Similar to the real Nicolas Cage, the film’s protagonist faces financial ruin after losing several acting roles, all while he considers retirement from his Hollywood career. As a result, he accepts a $1 million job to attend the birthday party of a mysterious and wealthy superfan. Cage is then approached by the CIA to help them prove his host is an arms dealer responsible for the kidnapping of a politician’s daughter.
