This Mortal Kombat 2 Noob Saibot Theory Would Fix The Worst Thing About The 2021 Reboot

Joe Taslim’s Sub-Zero being resurrected as Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 2 would fix the most disappointing aspect of the 2021 reboot movie. The story of the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot follows characters like Sonya Blade, Jax, Kano, and the newly introduced Cole Young, as they take refuge in the temple of Lord Raiden and try to unlock their powers. While the majority of the film follows Cole Young, 2021’s Mortal Kombat begins with a fight between longtime rivals Scorpion and Sub-Zero, who are the two most popular characters in the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Since they are the two most recognizable characters in the franchise, it is a relief that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are once again being included in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2. However, Scorpion kills Sub-Zero at the end of 2021’s Mortal Kombat, which complicates his return. The cast of Mortal Kombat 2 will include Karl Urban, Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, and Martyn Ford. Hiroyuki Sanada and Joe Taslim, who portrayed Scorpion and Sub-Zero, respectively, in the 2021 film, will also be returning, which all but confirms that Sub-Zero will be resurrected as Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 2.

Bi-Han Will Return As Noob Saibot In Mortal Kombat 2 – Theory Explained

Bi-Han May Return From The ᴅᴇᴀᴅ In Mortal Kombat 2

The beginning of 2021’s Mortal Kombat highlights the bitter rivalry between Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The reboot movie begins with a fight sequence between the two warriors. Sub-Zero bests Scorpion in this fight, and ends up killing him, as well as his family. At the end of 2021’s Mortal Kombat, Hanzo Hasashi, also known as Scorpion, returns to finally get his revenge against Sub-Zero by burning him alive. Since Sub-Zero dies at the end of Mortal Kombat, the upcoming sequel is perfectly set up to bring him back as Noob Saibot.

In the Mortal Kombat video games, Sub-Zero, also known by his real name, Bi-Han, is resurrected by Quan Chi after his death. However, Sub-Zero does not return in the same form. Bi-Han is revived as the shadow ᴀssᴀssin known as Noob Saibot. Rather than Sub-Zero’s iconic blue outfit, Noob Saibot wears a black and gray outfit that symbolizes his connection to death and shadows. If Taslim does return as Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 2, he will likely be seeking out Scorpion to have another fight with his rival.

Quan Chi’s Role In Mortal Kombat 2 All But Confirms Bi-Han Will Become Noob Saibot

Quan Chi Could Resurrect Bi-Han As Noob Saibot In Mortal Kombat 2

After the events of 2021’s Mortal Kombat reboot, several new characters will be introduced in Mortal Kombat 2. One of these characters will be the villainous Quan Chi, who will be played by Damon Herriman in the upcoming sequel. Quan Chi is the sorcerer who is responsible for resurrecting Sub-Zero as Noob Saibot in the video games. Quan Chi is a demon of the Netherrealm who practices dark magic and necromancy. Quan Chi is actually the one who resurrected Scorpion as well, which will make it interesting if he also brings back his rival in Mortal Kombat 2.

If Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are going to be aligned in Mortal Kombat 2, it makes sense that the former would resurrect Sub-Zero.

Quan Chi’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 2 makes sense, as he is a major antagonist in the video games and forms an alliance with Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung was one of the main villains of the reboot movie, and works with Sub-Zero throughout the film. If Quan Chi and Shang Tsung are going to be aligned in Mortal Kombat 2, it makes sense that the former would resurrect Sub-Zero. In the video games, the alliance formed by Quan Chi and Shang Tsung is known as the ᴅᴇᴀᴅly Alliance, which could prove to be a major obstacle for Earthrealm’s warriors.

Bi-Han’s Return Means We Can Have A Proper Rematch Against Scorpion

Bi-Han & Scorpion Need To Fight Each Other Again

Bi-Han’s likely return in Mortal Kombat 2 all but confirms that he and Scorpion will have yet another rematch. After the events of the 2021 reboot, a Mortal Kombat tournament has been teased for the sequel. Mortal Kombat tournaments are a staple of the video games, which made it disappointing when the first movie didn’t feature one. Therefore, it would be very exciting to see Noob Saibot fight Scorpion during the tournament in Mortal Kombat 2. Bi-Han will likely be more powerful as Noob Saibot than he was as Sub-Zero, which could make the fight challenging for Scorpion.

This fight also needs to happen in Mortal Kombat 2 to redeem their underwhelming rematch in the first film. The fight between Scorpion and Sub-Zero at the beginning of the movie was one of the best fight scenes in 2021’s Mortal Kombat. However, their fight in the climax left a lot to be desired. One of the main problems with their rematch at the end of Mortal Kombat was that Cole Young was also part of the fight. Therefore, it wasn’t a proper rematch, since Sub-Zero was outnumbered in the fight.

Mortal Kombat 2 Could Also Have A New Sub-Zero

Kuai Liang Might Be Introduced As The New Sub-Zero In Mortal Kombat 2

Even though Bi-Han will likely be returning in Mortal Kombat 2, he will technically no longer be Sub-Zero. Noob Saibot is a drastically different character and fighter than Sub-Zero. Noob Saibot is a great character, but longtime fans of the franchise will likely want to see the iconic blue ninja again. Therefore, Mortal Kombat 2 could also introduce a new version of Sub-Zero. In the video games, after Bi-Han is killed by Scorpion, the Sub-Zero mantle pᴀsses to his brother, Kuai Liang.

Kuai Lang actually becomes Scorpion in the new timeline in the 2023 video game Mortal Kombat 1.

This means that Kuai Liang could also be introduced in Mortal Kombat 2 as a new version of Sub-Zero. In the games, Kuai Lang swears to get revenge for his brother’s death and enters the Mortal Kombat tournament using the name Sub-Zero. Therefore, it’s possible that this new version of Sub-Zero will also seek revenge against Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 2. It’s possible that Scorpion will fight both Bi-Han as Noob Saibot and Kuai Liang as Sub-Zero in the upcoming sequel. If this is the case, it will be exciting to see a new version of Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 2.
