Sebastian Stan’s A24 Movie With 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score Tops Streaming Chart Days After Its Debut

Sebastian Stan has gone from unknown to beloved actor in just over a decade. He continued to play Bucky in further MCU content, including the Captain America movies as well as Avengers: Endgame and the TV miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This MCU role helped him gain visibility and pave the way to other roles.

Some of his roles have been met with mᴀssive critical acclaim. In 2022, he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for playing Tommy Lee in the based-on-a-true-story drama series Pam & Tommy. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for the role. Stan was in two films last year that earned him acclaim, receiving nominations for both movies at the Golden Globes. In The Apprentice, he played Donald J. Trump in his pre-presidential days, but it’s his other 2024 movie that is currently doing well on streaming.

This Comes Right Before Oscar Nominations Are Announced

The timing of A Different Man‘s streaming success is fascinating due to its proximity to the Oscar nominations. The movie came out on Max the same day that the Oscar voting window was closed after the fire-related extensions. This could have given A Different Man some momentum as the awareness of its streaming arrival may have reminded Academy voters about the A24 film. As Oscar nominations get announced on Thursday, it will be interesting to see whether Stan is in the Best Actor mix, and if that honor comes from The Apprentice or A Different Man.
