Captain America: Brave New World’s Pre-Sales “Nowhere Near” Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania According To Box Office Analyst

Captain America: Brave New World‘s pre-sales received an update that shows how the movie compares to other Marvel Cinematic Universe entries. After Chris Evans led the MCU’s Captain America trilogy, Anthony Mackie now gets the chance to start one of his own. Sam Wilson’s first Captain America film will be the first of three MCU movies to be released in 2025. After 2024 saw ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine pᴀss the coveted $1 billion mark at the box office, all eyes are on whether Marvel’s upcoming movies will see similar success, and tickets are now out for Captain America: Brave New World.

On Twitter, box office analyst Luiz Fernando revealed that Captain America: Brave New World‘s pre-sales are nowhere near Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s numbers.

The movie opened on the same weekend in 2023 as the new Captain America film. However, the pre-sales of the upcoming MCU movie are outpacing box office bombs like The Marvels and Joker: Folie à Deux. Captain America: Brave New World is on par with Marvel’s Eternals, which had a domestic opening weekend of $71 million. That said, the analyst thinks Captain America: Brave New World‘s release could receive a boost from ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine‘s success.

Our Take On Captain America: Brave New World’s Pre-Sales Update

The New Captain America Movie Has A Battle Ahead

While Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ended up being a box office disappointment, it is easy to understand why Captain America: Brave New World‘s pre-sales are nowhere near the third Ant-Man film. Disney+’s Loki did a masterful job of propping up Kang the Conqueror to be a frightening figure. The arrival of the MCU’s new main villain after Thanos was a huge selling point of Quantumania. That, added to the charm of the previous two Ant-Man movies led by Paul Rudd, resulted in a domestic opening weekend of $106 million.

Captain America: Brave New World starts a new version of the Captain America franchise that stars a character who spent most of his time in the MCU as a supporting player. Adding to that, Mackie’s Sam Wilson replaces Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who is one of the faces of the MCU. This makes the film’s job hard, but with action-packed trailers that suggest a Captain America: The Winter Soldier tone and Red Hulk added to the mix, the new MCU movie can do quite well. With good reviews, Captain America: Brave New World could get a boost through walkup sales.

Our Take On Captain America: Brave New World’s Pre-Sales Update

The New Captain America Movie Can Have A Healthy Box Office Run

According to a report from ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Captain America: Brave New World is projected to have an $86 million-$95 million 3-day domestic opening, with its Valentine’s Day/Presidents’ Day weekend boost leading to a $100M+ figure. With good word-of-mouth and positive reviews, the Captain America movie could have good legs. Based on the footage we have seen so far, I think the movie looks great, and Red Hulk should be a major source of interest for general audiences, translating into ticket sales. While it will not pᴀss $1 billion, I’m convinced Captain America: Brave New World could be a success.
