Amidst the rapid development of drone technology and its emergence as a leading threat on the modern battlefield, soldiers of the 1st Marine Logistics Group conducted a dramatic and realistic sH๏τgun-range training exercise targeting small unmanned aerial systems (counter-sUAS).
At a specialized shooting range, Marines took turns firing sH๏τguns at simulated drone targets flying at low alтιтudes. They had to quickly detect, accurately aim, and destroy the drones before they could approach or transmit intelligence. The exercise was designed to be extremely realistic, helping soldiers become familiar with the high speed, unpredictable trajectories, and small size of attack drones.
This was not just a training exercise in marksmanship. The exercise emphasized the need to quickly adapt to new technology, where small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) can become weapons for intelligence gathering, surveillance, or even carrying explosives. Through this training, the 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG) not only enhanced their individual skills but also strengthened their ability to protect forces, bases, and allied units from the increasingly prevalent aerial threat.
As the 1st Marine Logistics Group plays a crucial logistical role, mastering anti-drone techniques helps the unit ensure the security of its supply chain and support combat operations in any operational environment. Every sH๏τgun blast fired carries strategic significance: preparing for a future battlefield where drones can appear from any direction and at any alтιтude.
This training clearly affirms the U.S. Marine Corps’ commitment to continuous innovation and capability enhancement, ready to counter any form of asymmetric warfare. As drone technology becomes increasingly sophisticated, the Marines remain one step ahead – with sH๏τguns in hand and the spirit of “Ready to Fight Tonight” in their hearts.
