🚨 Thai Cargo Ship Mayuree Naree Hit by Iranian Projectile in Strait of Hormuz | Bound for Kandla Port, Gujarat.hl

In yet another brazen attack on international shipping, the Thai-flagged bulk carrier MV Mayuree Naree was struck by an Iranian projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on March 17, 2026. The vessel was en route to Kandla Port in Gujarat, India, when the impact triggered a powerful explosion and raging fires on board.

Dramatic video footage shows thick black smoke pouring from the ship as flames engulfed parts of the deck. The 179-meter bulk carrier was carrying commercial cargo destined for western India when it came under attack. Rescue operations by Omani and Thai authorities are ongoing, with reports of crew injuries and at least one confirmed fatality.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility, stating the ship was targeted for “defying the Strait of Death blockade” as part of “Operation True Promise 4.” Tehran continues its aggressive campaign of attacking commercial vessels in a bid to pressure nations supporting the US and Israel.

Strong diplomatic backlash has followed.

India has strongly deplored the attack, calling it “unacceptable aggression against innocent seafarers and global trade.” New Delhi expressed deep concern over the safety of Indian crew members and the growing threat to vital shipping routes to Gujarat’s Kandla Port, one of India’s major commercial gateways.

Thailand has summoned Iran’s ambᴀssador in Bangkok, demanding an immediate explanation, accountability, and compensation for the damaged vessel and affected crew.

This incident highlights Iran’s desperate strategy.

As the regime reels from over 5,500 US and Israeli strikes, the destruction of key airbases, and the loss of Supreme Leader Khamenei, it is increasingly targeting civilian merchant ships to create economic chaos and international pressure.

America’s naval power remains dominant.

The dual supercarrier strike group — USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford — continues to operate at full strength in the Arabian Sea under Operation Epic Fury. Both carriers remain undamaged and are actively neutralizing Iranian naval threats while protecting key sea lanes.

Gulf nations and major trading powers have condemned the repeated attacks on commercial shipping as “economic terrorism.”

Iran’s reckless actions in the Strait of Hormuz are not only endangering innocent lives but also further isolating the regime. The world will not allow one country to hold global trade hostage. The response from the US-led coalition continues to intensify.
